The William Paca Garden is a such special place in the springtime. We are sorry you can't come visit in person - so here's a snippet of what's in bloom right now!
These perennials are popping up out of the cold ground and brightening up the Rose and Holly parterres:
Two special trees are also in bloom:

The Eastern Redbuds that grow in the William Paca Garden are the Forest Pansy variety and will soon sprout maroon leaves (other varieties feature green leaves).
Our head gardener, Joe Kuchuk, has a special video to tell you more about these pretty trees - check it out on our Facebook page!

The Albemarle Pippin is an apple variety that originated right here in America - in Newtown, NY, sometime during the eighteenth century. It became one of Thomas Jefferson's favorite varieties, and he planted more than 50 trees at Monticello. Allegedly, Benjamin Franklin shipped the variety to England and Queen Victoria liked it so much that she exempted the apples from the import tax!
And...our first rose is in bloom in the Rose parterre!

The Rose parterre really bursts into color in May, and we'll be sure to share it with you - stay tuned!
Ours are spring snowflakes! There is also a summer variety. They are a part of the amaryllis family - closely related to the Snowdrop.
So happy to "see" the garden! I am not familiar with Snowflake. Does it
only bloom in Spring?
